About Essential Oils of New Zealand

Established in 1975 by the present owners, John and Lyn Rainey, the Company's original mission was to grow, harvest and distil a range of essential oil crops primarily for the flavour markets of the world. Crops such as peppermint, coriander, dill, parsley and sweet fennel were established on the fertile plains of Canterbury, New Zealand. Experimental distillation trials of more exotic plants such as clary sage, imported cardamom seeds, Australian tea tree grown in Karamea and New Zealand native kanuka and manuka oils have all contributed to the building of an understanding of essential oil crop management, harvesting and distilling techniques, including the overwhelming importance of quality as the key ingredient to successfully marketing essential oils internationally.

The Company can claim to be New Zealand's oldest continuously operating essential oil production and marketing company. Its products have been sold in such discerning overseas markets as Great Britain, Spain, Japan, France, the United States, and Australia. The demand for good quality affordable essential oils, our knowledge of what makes good quality oil and our numerous contacts built up over the years has seen the focus of our business change from offering a limited range of locally produced oils to offering a complete range of essential oils, both local and imported.

Quality and affordability are paramount. Whether you use essential oils as an aromatherapy practitioner, a massage therapist, a candle maker, a personal care products manufacturer or as someone who uses essential oils to enhance your personal sense of wellbeing, you can be assured that we have your interests at heart.
